A Tea Party ~ Vintage Style ~ Brought to You by The Apron Queen

Vintage Thingies Thursdays

Welcome to Vintage Thingies Thursdays right here at Confessions of an Apron Queen. Wanna join in the fun? You can go here for more information and for instructions on how to participate. (Please note: I've decided to expanded this meme to include vintage photos or any vintage household object. Antique thingies always welcome too. Woo hoo!) If you aren't ready to participate today, that's OK too- just come on back next Thursday & we'll be doing it again.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
You are cordially invited to High Tea
with the Apron Queen...
Other guests in attendance include
the middle Royal Brat, Goldilocks,
and two of her friendly Ladies-in-Waiting

Welcome to our tea party. We'd like to share all our vintage goodies & fun with ya'll. To start, the foundation of a successful tea party is the tablecloth. We have chosen a vintage Wilendur tablecloth in purple roses.

Vintage Wilendur Tablecloth

The tableware chosen is also an important factor in a successful tea party. We have chosen to use vintage Pyrex mixing bowls for our fruit.

Vintage Pyrex Bowl

I love how this set of vintage Pyrex mixing bowls match each other. See how one is white with blue roosters & farmers. And the other one is blue with white roosters & farmers. Pretty cool. huh?

And high tea wouldn't be complete without some cookies. Make sure to spread them out real pretty on a fancy schmancy china plate.

Let's see how we're doing so far. Step back for a minute & admire your work. So, ya'll have probably noticed that Goldilocks is a rough & tumble tomboy of sorts. But, she has a girly side too. She is a sucker for tea sets. She loves tagging along with me to go junking & antiquing. She knows that she'll probably be able to talk me into buying her another tea set. This is her latest find.

The next step is the shoo the Mama kitty off the table. By the way, her kittens are three weeks old now. Her kittens have proven nearly impossible to photograph. They are b-u-s-y little things. I'm hoping to click a few good shots later today though.

Shoo KItty

Sandwiches are typically the centerpiece of high tea. Look, we even found a vintage tea towel embroidered with tea pots. We've chosen to line the sandwich plate with it.

Vintage Kitchen Towel

Isn't that about the cutest little tea party you ever saw? Menu: chicken salad on croissants, grapes, melons and dainty cookies.

Vintage Tea Party

Oh yea. And Cheetos. Because Cheetos are a tea party staple. Everybody knows that.

Cheetos. A Tea Party Staple. :D

Invite all your best friends over. Stuffed & furry friends are frequent tea party attendants at our home. Maybe that's why Mama kitty thought she was invited.

Furry Tea Party Guests

And last, but not least. Don't forget your aprons. Help your friends tie on an apron too. Isn't this the sweetest picture? Don't look too closely though. Or you'll notice their pink hair.

Don't forget your apron

Cute Kitten Alert

Summer is almost here. And even the kittens are enjoying the warm sunshine. They're three weeks old now and enjoy an occassional romp on the palace lawn. They enjoy meeting up with the other cats in the family too. It's always nice to meet new friends.

Time to go outside & meet new friends

The kittens are the busiest little things I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot seeing as I'm raising the Royal Brats. The kittens run and play and scamper all over the yard. Mostly, they chase each other. Tag! You're it!

Time to play in the sunshine. Tag. You're It!

Ha. I caught ya. Uh oh. Here comes Mom. And dang, she looks mad.

I caught ya. Uh oh. Here come's Mom. And she looks mad.

Break it up. Right now. Don't body slam your brother. This isn't a UFC fight.

Break it up!

Dang. No fair. Mom spoils all our fun. What are we gonna do now?

Mom spoils all our fun. What are we gonna do now?

Hey. I got an idea. Let's play hide & seek. I'll count. And you go hide.

Hey! I got an idea. Let's play hide & seek.

1, 2, 3... Ready or not. Here I come. Where are you? I'm gonna find ya'll.

1,2,3... Ready or not. Here I come.

This looks like a good place to hide. He'll never ever find me here...

He'll never find me here.

I'll just hide behind this grass that nobody has mowed. Yippee.

I'll just hide behind this grass nobody has mowed.

Woo hoo! I love being outside. You can't find me. Na Na Ne Boo Boo.

Yea! I love being outside.

Mom: Kids! Time to come in for lunch. Kittens: Hurry. Run. Pretend like you don't hear her.

Kitten: Mom, can we plllleeeaaasssse play longer? Mom: Don't you sass me. I told you it was time to come in for lunch.

Don't you sass me. I told you it was time to come in for lunch.

Mom: Don't make me drag you in this house. Kitten: Don't make me go! Don't make me go!

Don't make me drag you in the house... OK, we'll compromise & eat lunch outside.

Mom: OK, everybody go wait for me under the tree. We'll eat lunch outside. Kitten: Hmmm. Nobody's looking. I think I can make a break for it.

Everybody go wait for me under the tree. ~ Hmm. Nobody's looking. Maybe I can escape.

Kids: Hey. We're all here under the tree. Where's Mom with our lunch?

We're all here. Where's Mom with lunch?

Yea. There she is. And who says you can't nurse the baby in the front yard?

Extreme Blog Makeover. Thanks DCR Designs.

What works for me? Feeling like a new woman. Feeling like I've been to the spa all day. Check out the new look on my blog! I feel like I've had an Extreme Makeover. Courtesy of Jo-Lynne over at DCR Designs. She is a Blog Designer Extraordinaire. And make sure to capitalize that. She completely customized the header for me and patiently made 20 million little tweaks & revisions to it. I don't exaggerate on the 20 million either. I lost count after 19 million though, so it really is only just an estimate. Then, she completely customized a template for me. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a very visual person. I love colors and photos and catchy little saying all over my blog. But, it was one big ol' mess. Jo-Lynne gave me some much-needed definition & boundaries with some pretty blue borders & dotted lines. She gave me a 3rd column too. Thanks, I needed that. I was looking a bit frumpy there for awhile. But, now I'm feeling & looking great. Thanks to my Extreme Blog Makeover, courtesy of the Blog Designer Extraordinaire ~ DCR Designs.
